A really good season which should have resulted in siverware !
The team competed well on all fronts, finishing 6th in the First Division (mainly because of having extended runs in all cups), reaching the last 16 of the Scottish Cup (and with more discipline and belief could have gone all the way to the final). They reached the quarter final of the Brown Cup, the semi final of the Johnston Cup and the finals of both the Murphy Cup and the South East Region Cup.
A slack defensive display in the Murphy Cup Final resulted in a 5-3 defeat to Inch Colts. However, with a weakened side in the South East Region Cup Final the team executed their game plan brilliantlly and were leading Inch Colts by 2 goals to 1 with 6 minutes to go, only to lose 2 goals in the dying minutes to see the cup ripped from their grasp. So near and yet so far !!!
MARK WILKINS won the "Man of the Match" in the South East Region Cup Final.
MARK WILKINS won the "Players Player of the Year"
JOE HUTCHISON won the "Committee Player of the Year"
AARAN LAWRIE, FRASER PRESTON, JAMES TURNBULL,and MARK WILKINS were all involved with the SYFA 21s DEVELOPMENT SQUAD.
Best wishes go to Joe Hutchison, Shane O'Hara, James McKenzie, Gareth Simpson, Mark Wilkins, Aaran Lawrie, Fraser Preston, Nick Torsney and James Turnbull who have now all played their last season at Under 21 level. Thanks for all your efforts guys, keep in touch and good luck for the future. |
